Are you a meticulous and proactive Compliance Expert ready to ensure our company operates with the highest integrity? Athora Belgium is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Compliance department. As a Compliance Expert, you will play a key role in ensuring that the company operates in line with its legal and regulatory obligations. You will advise management, support business units and contribute to building a strong culture of compliance!

Your Responsibilities as a Compliance Expert

As a Compliance Expert, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and interpreting relevant Belgian and European legislation and regulations concerning compliance.
  • Providing expert advice to management and various business units on regulatory requirements, particularly in areas such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), Sanctions, Integrity, Code of Conduct, Gifts and Hospitality, Conflicts of Interest, External Mandates, and discrimination.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and implementing essential systems, documentation, and reporting mechanisms to ensure full compliance with the applicable framework.
  • Conducting thorough compliance monitoring and testing as outlined in our Monitoring and Testing Plan.
  • Contributing to the Compliance Risk Assessment and analysis, and assisting in the effective implementation of the Compliance Action Plan.
  • Ensuring that Athora Belgium maintains adequate policies and procedures within your areas of expertise.

Your Profile and Qualifications

We are looking for a Medior Compliance Expert with a strong background and a proactive approach:

  • You hold a university degree in Law, Economics, or Management, or possess equivalent professional experience.
  • You bring 3 to 5 years of experience in a second-line Compliance role within a financial institution, with a preference for experience in a Life insurance company.
  • You are proficient in French or Dutch, with a good command of the other national language, and are comfortable working in English.
  • You are highly organized, analytical, and results-oriented, with a keen eye for detail.
  • You can effectively manage your priorities and consistently meet tight deadlines.
  • You demonstrate the ability to work and learn quickly, maintaining a sustained rhythm in a dynamic environment.
  • You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders and present results clearly to senior management.
  • You enjoy rising to a challenge, think creatively, and are not afraid to propose innovative suggestions.
  • You are a team player, dynamic, and approach your work with an open mind.
